Goodbye 2018, and a look back

Here are some memories from 2018 and before, as usual on this (almost) last day of the year. May your new year be a happy, healthy and humorous year for you all, as laughter is how to add life to your years!

Scott Dixon won several races in 2018, as seen here at one of his 3 wins of the Indy Car season. Dixon now owns 5 championships, on AJ has more, and is only 8 wins behind Mario Andretti for 2nd All time and 23 behind AJ.

American-led Hass F1 had a great season, earning 90 championship points, the most since coming into the series in 2016. Gunther Steiner has guided the team to it's best result, 5th close behind Renault.

The sun sets on a clouded sky over Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

2017 Champion Josef Newgarden had 3 wins and 4 poles in 2018, finishing 5th in the Indy Car Championship finishing behind Dixon, Rossi, Penske teammate Will Power and Hunter-Reay. The dominant teams are still Penske, Ganassi and Andretti.

Tom Coronel driving the Repsol Arrows T2-F1 during a test at Spain. The driver test also included Mark Webber and Pedro De la Rosa who was awarded the seat along with Jos Verstappen

Formula 1 finished with the usual suspects dominating all races. While Lewis Hamilton broke free of Sebastian Vettle to take the 2018 Drivers Championship, he also put distance between himself and the German with titles won, the English driver now holds 5. At most races this season it was Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull or some combination of, with only one podium finish by Perez and Force India not of those top 6 drivers.

Klaus Graf prepares to qualify the Pickett Racing Muscle Milk P1 Prototype before an American Le Mans race where he and co driver Lucas Luhr had many wins and championships. You could say they dominated.

Bryan Sellers who, along with Madison Snow drove the #48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 to the IMSA Weather Tech GT Daytona championship.

Driving the GT LeMans championship winning Corvette for 2018, Jan Magnussen once remarked the music he preferred was, " something very dark...and very heavy"

The Weather Tech IMSA Sportscar challenge produced 3 class champions including the #31 Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype driven by Eric Curran and Felipe Nasr. This is the fastest class in the multi-class series, with V-8 engines. Also competing in the Prototype category are LeMans prototype which combine less displacement but better aerodynamics.

Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen in his Halo-protected Formula 1 car. Kevin's seat is assured next year with Haas F1 along with F1 veteran teammate Romain Grosjean. Notable driver changes see Kimi Raikkonen departing from Ferrari for Sauber to make room for up and coming driver Charl LeClerc. Daniel Riccardo will move to Renault and the return? of Robert Kubica, reportedly with Williams late in the season.
