Love that 24 and Birel

June 13, 2010

Racing had international headlines this weekend, with the 24 Hours of Le Mans taking place. In prior years, the Audi stranglehold seemed weakened by the consistent assault the Peaugeot powered teams posed. But this year Audi ushered in a new era of champions as little known but powerful drivers piloted the undeniably most reliable prototype entered in the 24 hour race this year and in years past.

Because of the wages of war, the Peaugeot became the Peau-junk cars, none of the four starting cars were able to finish, handing Audi a 1, 2, 3 finish.

Reliable experienced drivers piloted the Peageots, like Sebastien Bourdais and Franck Montagny, but mechanical difficulties and racing incidents spelled doom for this latest assault on the Audi TDI dominance. Poor Bourdais didn't even get into the race, as a co-driver wrecked the Le Mans native before he had a chance to see a racing lap. Better luck next year!

Lewis Hamilton held off the field and won again at the Montreal Canada Grand Prix. Red Bull's Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel are still the front runners and point leaders.

Karting

Team Principle J.A. Griffin acquired another kart today to make his garage a two-kart-one-dirtbike garage! How awesome!! It's a '99 Buller rolling chassis. This one will be for his son Jaybin to drive, probably with a Kt motor and a sprint setup for the nearby GCKI's sprint track.
In the wings waits another kart, a road racing kart with several spare Kt 100 motors...we're hoping to get this deal done.

The Birel is nearing full reassembly, although several parts need replacement. Some repairs and cleaning have really set off the new painted chassis: it looks great! Hoping for a one-off later in the summer.
