Texas' USGP to host Formula 1, GP2 and Historic GP races

As you, regular reader, probably know by now, the United States Grand Prix Formula 1 race is returning to the US this year with a race in Austin, Texas on the weekend of November 16-18.

Aside from the Formula 1 race that will take place, and it should be very crucial for the points championship at that late stage of the season, and along with the support series GP2 (slightly smaller less powerful formula cars), the Historic Grand Prix will be there.

Historic Grand Prix is a series of races of cars from yesteryear. Pictured are some famous Formula 1 cars through the years, although it's not clear yet exactly which cars will be present the weekend of the USGP.

It is noted on the Historic Grand Prix website that the cars that are competing are the exact cars once used in competition in F1, with the livery and powerplants originally used. At times, the original makers and mechanics have been recruited to tour with the cars, bringing the authenticity to a high level. It will be interesting to see which cars are driven by former racers as well and who will be present.

Unfortunately, there are several racing series that usually accompany Formula 1 race weekends that probaboly won't make it here this year, such as The German Touring Car Championship or DTM and GP3, another 'ladder to F1' series inwhich a young American driver is getting good results right now, Conor Daly, son of former F1 driver Derek Daly.

Some of the most beautiful motor racing cars ever built! Congrats to Conor Daly also, first for the awesome results he's experiencing this year which will surely lead to GP2 and hopefully Formula 1 in upcoming seasons. Second, congrats for the Force India test drives, he's done 2 now, his first taste of Formula 1 power.
